TECH TALK: Commercial EV Charger Customization Is Standard At BTC POWER

Commercial EV charger power selection options

Level 2 charging systems

The L2 MaX Series features Level 2 AC charging stations with single and dual port outputs. These stations are available in 7.68 kW, 11.52 kW, and 19.2 kW configurations. They can deliver AC charging current of 32, 48, or 80 A at 240 VAC. The dual port stations can supply as much as 80 A/port. The L2 MaX stations operate from either single phase or two phase 208 or 240 VAC. These systems provide fast and cost-effective charging in a space-saving enclosure. They are unique in delivering 80 A simultaneously to two vehicles and meeting the ISO 15118:2014 standard. The L2 MaX series can charge consumer vehicles to a satisfactory level in approximately two to three hours.

Level 3 EV fast chargers

For high-speed charging, BTC POWER’s Gen 4 All-In-One DC Fast Chargers offer dual port stations with power options of 120 kW, 150 kW, and 180 kW. The chargers can supply 200 – 920 VDC to enable charging both 400 V and 800 V EV batteries. The 150 kW and 180 kW models can supply up to 500 A. With the 500 A current capacity, the Gen 4 charger can charge passenger EV batteries to an 80% charge in just 10 to 15 minutes. The dual port stations can charge one EV at full power or two EVs at half of full power output. The charger detects the presence of one or two vehicles and apportions power accordingly.

The Gen 4 Split System provides the highest power charging capacities. This charging system supplies charging power of 180 kW, 240 kW, or 360 kW with voltages up to 950 VDC and a maximum total current of 500 A for each dispenser channel. The system consists of a power engine cabinet that feeds power to a dispenser which interfaces with an EV. The configuration of a power cabinet and separate dual port dispensers allows BTC POWER to support customers who need compliance with National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) standards.

The Gen 4 Fleet Dispenser system, which has two power options, 240 W and 360 W, can deliver unattended charging of up to eight vehicles. The dispenser for this system can deliver 350 A/channel. The system employs dynamic power sharing to enable four vehicles to charge simultaneously while the second set of four vehicles charge sequentially after the first four vehicles have been charged. The high power fast charging of the Gen 4 Feet Dispenser helps customers maximize the productivity of their EVs.

EV charger cable and connector options

BTC POWER recognizes the importance of selecting the right cables and connectors to ensure optimal charging performance and charge specific vehicle models. Cable options

BTC POWER offers both standard and liquid-cooled EV charger cable options.

  • Standard cables can support up to 350 A.
  • Liquid-cooled cables, on the other hand, support up to 500 A for the fastest charging. They are lighter than standard cables and allow users to connect their vehicle to the charging station more easily.

Both cables are available in lengths of up to 25 feet. Retractable cable options help to minimize wear and damage to the cable as well as ease the return of the cable to the EV charging station.

Connector options

BTC POWER supports a variety of connector types, including CCS Type 1, CCS Type 2, CHAdeMO, and NACS connectors. These connectors, available for any cables, meet global standards, ensuring compatibility across different regions and vehicle types.

  • CCS (Combined Charging System) Type 1 and Type 2 connectors support fast DC charging, allowing up to 500 A and 350 kW. Type 1 is primarily used in North America and has five pins. Type 2 is mainly used in Europe and regions that follow European standards and has seven pins.
  • CHAdeMO (Charge de move or charge for moving), primarily used in Japan, offers up to 400 kW at 1000 V.
  • NACS, the North American Charging Standard connector, supports 1000 VDC and up to 650 A and will become the standard connector on many North American vehicles by 2025.

User Interface Options

BTC POWER also provides customization for the user interface to enhance branding and functionality. Customers can personalize the LCD display to showcase promotional messaging or company branding. In addition, customers can specify a payment interface screen and screen saver displays. LED lighting is another available option, providing better nighttime visibility and usability.

Backend provider flexibility

Backend providers supply marketing, payment processing, and energy-sourcing services. You can select any backend service provider for your charging stations. If you have yet to choose a specific provider, BTC POWER can recommend a provider. Examples of backend providers include Electrify America, EV Connect, and Shell Recharge.

Services the backend providers offer include:

  • Publicizing your charger locations and describing your charger, including charger details, describe the charger type, its connector, and the charging speed
  • Smartphone app available to your customers for locating your chargers and accessing them.
  • Possible renewable energy for your chargers

Payment method and connectivity options
